There’s such a thing as keeping up appearances, and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart—who spent five months behind bars in a federal prison 15 years ago for obstructing an investigation into a stock sale—doesn’t approve of Felicity Huffman’s prison style.
Huffman, perhaps best-known as one of the stars of the TV series, Desperate Housewives—but currently referred to as inmate number 777806-112–is serving a two-week sentence at Dublin, a low-security federal prison in California, for her role in a college admissions scandal.
After the actress was caught on camera walking on the prison grounds in a white cap and a belted, two-piece green uniform, CNN host Brian Stelter caught up with Martha Stewart at Vanity Fair’s New Establishment summit this week to ask about her thoughts on Huffman’s imprisonment.
Stewart added, “She made a horrible mistake, horrible. And she’s experiencing what happens when that terrible mistake happened.”
Stelter then asked Stewart if she thinks that Huffman will be able to salvage her acting career once she’s on the other side of her 14-day prison sentence.
“I don’t know,” she said. “I hope so.”
Stewart, of course, was able to maintain her own career after serving time behind bars in West Virginia in 2004.
